EMBARK Psychedelic Therapy for Depression

A New Approach for the Whole Person, Bill Brennan, PhD & Alex Belser, PhD

EMBARK is an open-source, transdiagnostic model of psychedelic-assisted therapy built on six clinical domains, Existential-spiritual, Mindfulness, Body-aware, Affective-cognitive, Relational, and Keeping momentum. Written for clinicians, the book offers a practical, ethically grounded framework for accompanying patients through psychedelic treatment.

"Pioneering, comprehensive, and deeply insightful, EMBARK points the way to the future of psychedelic-assisted therapy."

Rick Doblin, PhD

"Not only is it a really comprehensive guide to what to actually 'do', the authors offer their wisdom from their whole selves, bringing a level of sensitivity and depth that befits these sacred ways of healing."

Rosalind Watts, PhD

"Brennan and Belser's remarkable manual offers an approach both visionary and practical."

Queering Psychedelics

From Oppression to Liberation in Psychedelic Medicine, edited by Alex Belser, Clancy Cavnar & Beatriz Caiuby Labate

Psychedelic science once participated in the pathologizing of queer lives, including attempts at so-called "conversion therapy." This Chacruna anthology gathers researchers, clinicians, and community voices to reckon with that history and imagine a future in which psychedelic medicine serves LGBTQIA+ liberation.

Three chapters are available to read here: the Introduction, "A Queer Vision for Psychedelic Research", and "Best Practices for Assessing Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity".

When they take these medicines, people go into difficult places, they deal with past grief, trauma and suffering… with enough intention put into supporting that experience, it's the beginning of an arc of healing that can lead to something extraordinary.
